80CCD(2) - Employer contribution towards NPS...
Subject: Regarding NPS contribution by the employer

Dear Amlan Ji

Income is put under relevant head only ...you cannot show stock gains in House property or business gains under salary ...if you do so charging section itself shall fail and return deemed useless ..there is no way pension qualifies for income from other sources.

Dear Amlan Ji

Thanks for your prompt reply. However my query is little bit different. I forgot to attach the image last time. Please find it so that my confusion would be more clear to you as well:

Actually my employer contribution does not reflect in my monthly salary. Moreover in Form 16 (A&B) and as well as in 26AS also, it does not get added to make the gross salary (first head of ITR form). However, in Form 16B you can see that the office mentions it (the employer contribution to NPS) for the first time (No. 7: Any other income reported by employee [c] TIER-I, Inst. Const.) then they add it there in the head GROSS TOTAL INCOME.

Now my confusion is, while filing ITR, where should I mention it because there is no option like this (refer to the attached image). I doubt whether I should show it as income from other sources. I seriously need your guidance on this. I am open for other informations, if required.

Thanks and regards
Bhupendra

If it is not showing in payslips , form 16 etc ...it reflects employer didn't consider it for salary accounting purpose ...better to ignore it because anyways you will add and subtract it ...now , you will do nothing just to adhere to what the form 16 prescribes

But above amount is not getting reflected in 80CCD(2) of Form 16.
I a...

When you say ...monthly reduction , i believe that it is from the employer side ...now instead of givin to you they are putting in NPS and in that case I surely believe that in this case you can claim benefit of employer contribution in 80 CCD(2) despite them having not considered the same in form 1...

Check NPS statement , if employer contribution reflects in NPS , then you can take benefit under 80 CCD(2) as per eligibility ...In gross salary it has already been added though not separately accounted for , i believe

Sir u explained that employer's contribution comes under non exempt allowances and we can claim tax benefit of that amount under 80 ccd(2). It shows no employer contribution ....so i am not sure whether your employer is contributing towards NPS ....with this form 16 and the salary breakup offered, it is not clear whether employer has contributed towards NPS and so not prudent to claim it under 80 CCD(2)

You can fill employee contribution in 80 CCD(1) or 80 CCD(1B)- It is employee choice. As far as employer contribution is concerned, you shall fill it in 80 CCD(2).

You can put it in non exempt allowance......there wont be any problem....and yes, you will take benefit under 80 CCD(2) not 80 CCD(1) or 80 CCD(1B) ...80 CCD(1) and 80 CCD(1B) are deduction sections for employee contribution towards NPS...in your case it being employer will enjoy deduction benefit ...
