One must never purchase in name of someone else ...but anyways lets forget all that ...tax is based on ownership /coownership and not on whose name the property is held ...figure out what is the composition of ownership i.e whose money is involved and to what extent ...say 100 rs is the property val...

No , he wont ...and nothing of such sort shall ever happen ...noone can do any stupid thing...If we are talking of assessment year 2015 16 , you still have time to file belated return under section 139(4) until 31st March 2017 ...you can very well pay taxes and file return for assessment year 2015...

Ask him to file a fresh belated return under 139(4)....the due return filed under belated period will anyways be rejected ....

In short due return can be filed in due period and belated return in belated period
If any of them done wrongly i.e due return filed in belated period or belated return filed...
